Solid Rock Carpenters

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock."   Matthew 7:24

Solid Rock Carpenters (SRC) is a not-for-profit volunteer organization that offers opportunities for people from all backgrounds and any skill level to volunteer for rebuilding projects providing shelter for people in need.

Founded in 2005, Solid Rock Carpenters has worked with a number of ministries, such including  Habitat for Humanity, Casas por Cristo and Appalachia Service Project; all working to improve the quality of life for those less fortunate. SRC has been active locally, nationally, and internationally in meeting its mission of “Building Homes and Bringing Hope” to those underserved.

Volunteer opportunities are available both locally in the Chicago area  and on-site with partnering organizations. Framing day events take place in the Chicago area where sections of a new home's walls are prefabricated and loaded on trucks for shipment.

Week long service trips for final assembly and completion by volunteers take place soon after. SRC have been involved in 16 different Chicago area framing day events and local building projects with over 1,800 participants.  So far 47 homes have been completed on 55 weekly trips involving over 4,000 volunteers
